Biography
Started: He began playing wheelchair rugby at age 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. (Thomas Rotary Facebook profile, 25 Feb 2024; Athlete, 22 Aug 2021)
Reason: "There was a long period when I did not practise sports. A physical therapist suggested wheelchair rugby because he could see that I missed being physically active. Both my parents have played a lot of handball, and my father later played football. That was why I had played both sports before. I just couldn't really keep up with the others." (elsassfonden.dk, 25 Sep 2019)
Ambition: To compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. (Instagram profile, 09 Nov 2023)
Awards: He was named Player of the Match in Denmark's quarterfinal against France at the 2022 World Championship in Vejle, Denmark. (World Wheelchair Rugby Facebook page, 15 Oct 2022)
Additional Info: OCCUPATION
In 2019 he took up a position working at Parasport Denmark. "My passion is for the young people, to get them started playing sports. Sport has given me a lifestyle that is good for me. If I hadn't practised sports, I don't think I'd have a social life. I really think it's about coming out and being part of a community. Only later is it about winning." (elsassfonden.dk, 25 Sep 2019)
