Biography
Reason: After an ankle injury ended her non-Para basketball career, she was invited to train with a wheelchair basketball team in Munich, Germany. "In [non-Para] basketball, we never talked about what options we have if we get badly injured. So I didn't even know how wheelchair basketball worked. Even though at the time I thought my life was over, I've been playing basketball since I was 10 years old and have never wanted anything else." (sportfrauen.net, 27 Jan 2021)
Sporting Relatives: Her husband Dirk Passiwan represented Germany in wheelchair basketball at the Paralympic Games in 2008, 2012 and 2016. He has also served as head coach of the German women's national team and as head coach of club side Doneck Dolphins Trier in Germany. (swr.de, 20 Apr 2024; SportsDeskOnline, 25 Apr 2024)
