(Instagram profile, 21 Aug 2023) Awards: He and his mixed PR3 coxed four crewmates Susanne Lackner, Jan Helmich, Kathrin Marchand, and Inga Thone were named Para Team of the Year for 2022 by the German National Paralympic Committee [DBS]. He returned to international competition in Para rowing after taking up the sport alongside his friend Dominik Siemenroth. "The 2008 Paralympics in Beijing were the greatest thing I have experienced so far. When I retired from athletics I wanted to focus on my career [away from competition]. I didn't know before that rowing for people with disabilities even existed. We wanted to find a Paralympic sport that we could do together. It was clear to me what I was getting myself into and I consciously decided to go back to competitive sports. I've always been an athlete. I would like to take part in the Paralympics again. That's my motivation." (SportsDeskOnline, 11 Dec 2023; brsnw.de, 23 Oct 2023; teamdeutschland-paralympics.de, 23 Aug 2019) OCCUPATION In 2023 he became a talent scout for the Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia [BRSNW] in Germany. He has also served as an event inclusion manager for the German Rowing Association [DRV], and has been employed by the German National Paralympic Committee [DBS] with involvement in several sports. "The position at DBS was like winning the lottery for me. I'm at home in Para sports." (rehacare.de, 12 Jun 2024; brsnw.de, 23 Oct 2023; rudern.de, 23 Aug 2023; rudersport-magazin.de, 01 Jan 2023)
