Biography
Started: She began learning to swim at age two. She took up Para swimming competitively in 2013 in Pavia, Italy. (Athlete, 09 Sep 2019) Reason: "When I was a child my doctors advised my parents that I should take up swimming. In my hometown there was a Paralympic swimming team set up by Davide Bellingeri [AICS Pavia Nuoto] so I decided to give it a try." (Athlete, 09 Sep 2019) Ambition: To compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. (abilitychannel.tv, 29 Nov 2023) Additional Info: OTHER ACTIVITIES She has served as an athlete representative advisor on the federal council of the Italian Para Swimming Federation [FINP]. "You certainly have an important role, but above all a responsible one. By living certain experiences you can bring back certain points of view." (finp.it, 03 Jul 2023) STUDIES In July 2020 she graduated with a bachelor's degree in biotechnology from the University of Pavia in Italy, and she obtained a master's degree in medical biotechnology at the same university. Her bachelor's degree thesis was affected by the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. "I had structured a programme for my studies around the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, allowing me to graduate in July 2020. But then the world froze. So my plan B was to run systematic literary research and then return to my laboratory research that had been carried out before the pandemic. I developed an experimental thesis. I was not able to complete all the laboratory research, however, I feel very satisfied with the work I was able to present." (finp.it, 20 Apr 2023, 23 Jul 2020; nuoto.com, 22 Jul 2020)
