Started: He took up wheelchair fencing following the amputation of his leg. (fiumicino-online.it, 16 Nov 2017) Reason: He met Italian wheelchair fencer Alberto Pellegrini during his rehabilitation. "I took up fencing thanks to my teammate Alberto Pellegrini. During rehabilitation at Santa Lucia [rehabilitation centre in Rome, Italy], he told me, 'I will introduce you to a sport you will fall in love with'.
