Biography
Started: She took up archery in 2012. (extranet.worldarchery.sport, 10 Aug 2021) Reason: Getting involved in archery as a child helped her to become more confident. "Archery has helped me through so many rough experiences over the years. I've gone through my formative years in the sport, and it's shaped me to have a lot more self-belief and feel a lot more purpose. I want to help people get into sport whatever way I can and I want it to save people just like it saved me." (impartialreporter.com, 01 Sep 2023) Ambition: To win a medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. (impartialreporter.com, 01 Sep 2023) Awards: She was named Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire [MBE] in January 2022. (bbc.com, 19 Feb 2022; fletchers.org.uk, 01 Jan 2022) Additional Info: TOUGH TIME AT SCHOOL Her impairment means she was unable to run during PE lessons at school. "I was always the last person to be picked on teams and if I didn't get picked I sat out. I hated it. I have so many bad memories that I never thought I would ever take part in and enjoy sport. So to have found archery and gone to Tokyo and been successful, and also be awarded an MBE, proves that everyone who has ever said anything mean about my disability is just wrong. Look at what I have achieved - disability or no disability. I did an interview after Tokyo where I got very emotional over the fact that I have been called so many horrible names throughout my life. But of all the things I have ever been called, Paralympic champion is the best." (bbc.com, 19 Feb 2022) OTHER ACTIVITIES She has served as chair of Worcester University Archery Club in England. (worcsu.com, 01 Jan 2020)

Sporting Relatives: Her partner Stuart Taylor competed in archery for Great Britain at the 2022 European Championships in Munich, Germany. He has also served as a coach of the Great Britain Para archery national team.
