Biography
Started: She began competing in swimming at age nine with the Burlington Aquatic Devilrays club in Canada. She got involved in Para swimming in 2021. (swimming.ca, 31 Jul 2023; swimontario.com, 14 Jul 2022) Reason: She was quiet and shy as a young child, so her parents signed her up for a swimming club to help build her confidence. "I found out that I have been living with a neurological condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. I started losing a little bit of feeling in my hands and then also experienced some weakness and numbness. That kind of made me realise, maybe I could Para swim, and then I started the process for that." (chch.com, 24 Jun 2024; swimontario.com, 14 Jul 2022) Ambition: To compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. (swimming.ca, 31 Jul 2023) Awards: She was named Breakout Para Swimmer of the Year for 2023 by Swimming Canada. (paralympic.ca, 17 May 2024; swimming.ca, 07 Feb 2024)
