Reason: While a student at Carleton Place High School in Ontario, Canada, one of her standing volleyball coaches, Caroline Sharp, told her about sitting volleyball. "I YouTubed it and decided it was the coolest thing ever." She was put in contact with one of the Canadian women's sitting volleyball coaches and given the opportunity to try the sport. She has been a representative for the Child Amputee Program of Canadian charity The War Amps, which supports people with amputations in the country, and has also been an advocate for their Operation Legacy programme. In 2016, she was presented with a Certificate of Recognition by the mayor of Carleton Place in Ontario, Canada, for her involvement with The War Amps. "They are an amazing organisation and have supported me so much growing up as a child amputee. I feel honoured to get to be a role model for others, especially when I think of all the people with limb differences and athletes I looked up to growing up." FURTHER EDUCATION
After completing a degree in mechanical engineering at Queen's University in Kingston, ON, Canada, in 2017 she was given a scholarship to attend a four-month programme at the university to study for a graduate diploma in business, business administration, and management.
