Biography
Started: He took up the sport in 2010 at age 38 at the State University of Campinas, Brazil. (TV Camara Campinas YouTube channel, 13 Aug 2019; Athlete, 30 Aug 2024) Reason: He was advised to try a sport during rehabilitation after he acquired his impairment. "I knew the sport by chance as I had had my accident and was already away from the Military Police corps and was waiting for my reformation. I saw a TV report in which there was a sporting programme for people with an impairment at the University of Campinas. I was introduced to wheelchair fencing without knowing anything about it.
