He then spent five years without being involved in any sports, before joining the Para swimming team of coach Airton Bianchi in Sao Carlos, Brazil. "I spent five years lying on a bed before discovering coach Bianchi's project on the internet. I didn't even know how to swim. I did my first strokes and I discovered a new world.
