Started: She began playing volleyball at age 10 in Natal, Brazil. She tried to play standing volleyball again after sustaining her impairment, but moved on to sitting volleyball in 2009. She declined, but in 2009 she was invited to watch a training session at the SESI-SP club and ended up joining them. "[In 2006] they were going to play in the world championships in the Netherlands and I had no idea of how it was played. I refused a few times, I said I wanted to study and never play volleyball again."
