Started: She began competitive athletics training in 2007 at the Association of the Visually Impaired of Belo Horizonte [ADEVIBEL] in Brazil. (vakinha.com.br, 14 Nov 2012)
Reason: She initially began hiking with the goal of losing weight but soon discovered she had a talent for athletics. "In childhood and adolescence, my family would not let me go out.
