  • Doerr grew up sailing on Barnegat Bay in New Jersey, where all of his friends and family were avid sailors. He was forced to crew for his siblings at a young age. After a spinal cord injury in 1992, Doerr was able to reconnect to his past and has stated that sailing has improved his health
  • Son of Alphonsus and Esther Doerr
  • Married to Joann Doerr
  • Has four sisters, Carol, Debra, Mary and Susan, and one brother, Joe
  • His career as a physician in plastic and reconstructive surgery is another one of his passions
  • Coaches Bergen Catholic High School lacrosse
  • He is an assistant professor of orthopedics at Seton Hall University
  • Hobbies include lacrosse, skiing and coaching.
