- Personal: In the late 1980s, Muffy Davis was a talented member of the U.S. Junior Ski Team with dreams of Olympic gold
- But one morning on a downhill training run in Sun Valley, Idaho, she crashed through a safety fence and was paralyzed from the chest down
- She decided to “thrive” rather than merely survive
- She went on to earn a combined four medals at the 1998 and 2002 Paralympic Winter Games in alpine skiing.
- She picked up competitive cycling later in her career and was an immediate success story, racing to gold in three separate events at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
