• Married to fellow U.S. Paralympic track and field teammate Erik Hightower
• Born with albinism that leaves her without pigment in her skin, hair or eyes. She is legally blind with 20/400 vision

• Started in the sport when her brother suggested she join the high school track team after seeing her run the mile in her P.E. class
