Grew up in South Texas and is a huge Longhorns fan. But, he "bleeds green and gold" for the NFL's Green Bay Packers
- Suffered a spinal cord injury due to an epidural abscess, which compressed his spinal cord from C4-T4
- Spent 15-1/2 years in the Army as a helicopter crewmember and instructor
- First language was Spanish, and is studying German, Portuguese and Korean.
- Has been a musician since age 10 and plays guitar, bass, piano, trumpet and is working on adapting his drums to play again
