- Murphy first hopped on a bike as a means of commuting to a part-time job in LA, then began to enter national road cycling competitions
- He sustained a brachial plexus injury at birth that resulted in permanent nerve damage from his neck through his arm
- One day during recovery, he came across an article about a para-cyclist with a similar impairment
- After adding track events to his repertoire, he was invited to a talent identification camp before making the U.S. Paralympics Cycling National Team in 2014
- In 2016, he qualified for the U.S. Paralympic Team that was headed to Rio
- Son of David and Quang Murphy
- Appeared as a background musician in the 2012 Warner Brother’s Motion Picture Gangster Squad
- Was a Disneyland musician from 2007-12
- Hobbies include cooking, reading and performing music.
