- Introduced to track and field his freshman year by high school coach Joe McLaughlin
- Was donated his first racing chair by McLaughlin who teamed up with other high school staff members and Project Freedom to raise funds
- Works as a Learning Disabilities/ADHD Specialist at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- Hobbies include reading comic books, scuba diving, and cooking
