Started: He took up the sport in 2008/09. (Athlete, 31 Oct 2023; Athlete, 27 Aug 2024) Reason: He became interested in the sport after watching Korean swimmer Park Tae-Hwan win gold in the 400m freestyle at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. A coach also encouraged him to pursue the sport, and swimming became part of his rehabilitation.
