Biography
Started: She took up the sport in 2017 in Daegu, Republic of Korea. (hnews.co.kr, 28 Jan 2022; Athlete, 27 Aug 2024) Reason: She used to compete in non-Para taekwondo while in middle school. After suffering a cerebral haemorrhage she took up fencing, which was her high school's most popular sport, after a coach encouraged her to get involved in the sport. Sporting Relatives: Her younger sister Baek Wonyoung has also competed in non-Para fencing at junior level. She won bronze in individual epee at the 2023 National Junior Sports Festival in the Republic of Korea. (jndn.com, 25 May 2023)
