Biography
Started: He took up Para badminton in 2017. (masports.jp, 24 Jun 2018) Reason: He played baseball before his accident. He was introduced to Para badminton by a social worker. (sportiva.shueisha.co.jp, 20 Nov 2019; paralympic.org, 11 Aug 2020) Ambition: To win his second Paralympic gold medal at the 2024 Games in Paris. (parasapo.tokyo, 07 Sep 2021) Milestones: He became the first male badminton player representing Japan to win gold at the Paralympic Games by claiming victory in the WH2 singles at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. Para badminton was included in the Paralympic programme for the first time at Tokyo 2020. He was also Japan's youngest badminton medallist at the 2020 Games at age 19 years and 296 days.
