Started: She took up the sport in 2020 in Yunnan, People's Republic of China. (Athlete, 27 Aug 2024)
Reason: At age seven she was identified by local coaches as a suitable candidate for swimming training, but she declined the opportunity due to her fear of the water. Her father then built a small pool on their property to allow her to overcome her fear and learn to swim. In 2019 she was selected for a swimming training camp in Mengzi, People's Republic of China, and one month later she was selected to train with the Yunnan provincial team. (new.qq.com, 15 Oct 2023)
