After he noticed a reduction in his stamina as he grew older, he adjusted his backstroke technique in order to conserve energy. "My leg movement in backstroke is different from other swimmers. I swim backstroke with a leg motion similar to breaststroke. This motion saves more energy for me so I can have more stamina in the final stage of the race."
