Started: He received his first prosthetic leg in 2009 and took up running. He participated in his first competitive duathlon in 2012, and began competing in triathlon the following year. (Facebook page, 15 Sep 2017)
Reason: At a young age he was involved in sports including boxing, in which he competed at national level in Spain. He later focused on long-distance swimming and joined a swimming club.
