Reason: "In the past football was my passion, and I felt that losing a leg would also make me lose part of myself, so I needed another sport. In the end I focused entirely on Para athletics. Rehabilitation and 'just' walking again was not enough for me, I wanted to run. The first time I ran with [a running blade] it felt fantastic. I was always fast when I played football. I felt as if I regained some of my former self." (menshealth.com, 08 Apr 2019; artsenauto.nl, 03 Jul 2018; hbvl.be, 26 Mar 2018; gofundme.com, 16 Mar 2018)
