Started: He began playing sitting volleyball at age 20. (Athlete, 21 Aug 2021) Reason: He used to play football at school, but one day during a storm the pitch was not playable so he joined a group of children playing volleyball. He quickly realised he enjoyed the sport and practised it for a few years before a friend introduced him to sitting volleyball. "They announced that there was a team in Sari [in the Islamic Republic of Iran] that trained and I went one day. I knew the basics of volleyball and just had to adjust to sitting on the ground, which fortunately I did very quickly."
