Biography
Started: He first tried archery at age 10. "I was shooting in the garden with a homemade bow, I was 12 years old. I broke a window with the arrow. My family told me, 'We're tired of this, we're going to sign you up for a club'." (LinkedIn profile, 08 Oct 2023; paris.fr, 15 Jun 2022) Reason: He represented France in non-Para archery at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta before an accident the following year ended his career in the sport. He got involved in Para archery in 2019, with the goal of competing at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. "The fact that the Games are in France, and my friends and family will be in the stands - it's something close to my heart that they can be part of this big moment in my life." (paralympic.org, 23 Feb 2024; Facebook page, 08 Oct 2023) Ambition: To win a medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. (paris.fr, 15 Jun 2022) Additional Info: OLYMPIC TO PARALYMPIC ARCHERY He decided to take up Para archery after Paris was named as the host city for the 2024 Paralympic Games. The location hosting the Para archery [Esplanade des Invalides - Paris] holds special significance for him as he spent time rehabilitating from his accident at the Institution Nationale des Invalides rehabilitation facility. He had represented France in non-Para archery at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. "I am really satisfied to return to high performance sport. This time I have a different approach to my shooting technique but I have the same will to perform well. I started the same training process but with a different body." (paralympic.org, 02 Jul 2024. 23 Feb 2024; worldarchery.sport, 20 Jul 2023; CREPS des Pays de la Loire YouTube channel, 17 Jan 2023; paris.fr, 15 Jun 2022; actu.fr, 11 Dec 2019) OCCUPATION He has served as a sales manager at Axio Training, a sports equipment and training company based in France. He has also performed the same role for HandiJoy, an equipment supplier in France for people with an impairment.
