Reason: His first coach, Said Abd El Hafez, who won bronze while representing Egypt in Para powerlifting at the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona, encouraged him to take up the sport. "I wanted to send a message to the world that I can do anything I want. I met a friend after graduating from college who encouraged me to start powerlifting and to go to my first training session."
