While he was at a pool he met Para swimmer Moises Fuentes Garcia, who taught him how to use swimming as part of his rehabilitation and therapy process. "I had COVID in June 2021. We had Tokyo in August and a month and a half before competing I was in bed with antibiotics and medication. That left me with a lot of physical ailments, but I still got there, and I managed to get into the final, my second Paralympic final. It is a moment where I won the battle against life and circumstances, this has a huge meaning for having faced all that and having achieved my goals." Since I was seven or eight years old, I supported my mother in her work. I helped her in a marketing company that we had in the city of Bucaramanga. We sold bags and all kinds of products related to the time of year. I stayed with my mother's company until I came to live in Bogota. Throughout my life I have been combining sports with the business and musical side. I am a musician, percussionist and pianist. I have worked with several groups and I have also recorded with one of the best orchestras in the city and I have a company called Triana Mesa T&M."
