Biography
Cody Fournie won the silver medal in the men’s T51 100 m wheelchair event at the 2024 World Championships in Kobe, Japan. This performance also earned Canada a place at the Paralympic Games.
At the 2023 World Championships in Paris, he finished fifth in the 100 m T51 and set a new personal best by placing sixth in the 200 m T51.
Fournie became a quadriplegic following an accident at the age of 11. Growing up, he didn’t have many opportunities to express himself through sport. That was until he discovered wheelchair rugby in 2010.
He was a member of Canada’s national wheelchair rugby program for several years before switching to wheelchair racing.
